“All histories are peopled with shadows. In the zapatista history, there have not been a few delineated by our light. We are full of silent footsteps which have, nonetheless, made the shouts possible. There have been many who have kept silent so that the movement may walk. Many vague faces which have allowed other faces to be made clear. Someone said that zapatismo was successful because it knew how to weave nets. Yes, but behind ours there are many weavers of skillful hands, of great ingenuity, of prudent steps. And, while an incandescent and brief light is raised above every knot of the rebel net of the forgotten of the world, they are still weaving new strokes and embraces in the shadows…”
–Subcomandante Marcos, The Devils of the New Century
I’ve been sitting here all day listening to the radio archives on NPR.org and IndyMedia. Add these to your bookmarks, guys:

It’s been a while since I last updated. Things are hectic.
I saw Dopplegangers at the Flick last night. Loved it. It was smart. It was moving. It was inspired by Neutral Milk Hotel’s “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.”

There may be hope for us yet
I bought a McSweeney’s short fiction collection. For those who haven’t had the pleasure, visit the McSweeneys website now. It’s great, especially the Open Letters.

Rufee made this for the zine, but since I was kicked out before the zine could happen, here it is. Rufee’s one of the coolest people I’ve ever met.
I just spent that last two weeks discovering how big this country really is. I visited/drove through 18 states, camped out illegally at the Grand Canyon, experimented with new cigarette brands, met amazing, friendly people, ate at diners, and did it all in a car that was uninsured, unregistered, and had no A.C.
Nevertheless, I am glad to be back in the comfort of my own home, with my precious internet access.
I was bored, so I scanned some stuff from my sketchbook. Enjoy.
